Oceans!!!

For Earth Day, Disney put out a documentary out called Oceans. It's narrated by Pierce Brosnan and displays the ocean and it's creatures from all over the world. It was very informative and fun to watch. I am glad that I was able to see it on the big screen because the footage was amazing!

They captured whales, sea lions, dolphins, sharks, fish, lobsters and all sorts of other fish-like creatures in their natural habitats. They explained and showed how they live by finding food and fighting off predators. I have never seen anything like the things that this documentary showed. Since I am a big fan of the ocean, it was really awesome to see some of the things that go on under the sea. Some of the creatures shown resembled alien like creatures, with eye balls popping out of their heads and unique defense mechanisms.

My favorite parts to watch were of the dolphins and the sea lions. I love dolphins and want to swim with them one day, they just appear to be just energetic, peaceful creatures. The Sea Lions were adorable and just bum around. They interact with each other and share special bonds. Another part that I especially liked was when they showed a scuba diver next to a whale and even next to a shark. The whale was HUGE & the comparison of size next to a human being was good to see to understand how big some whales really are. Another amazing thing was that the shark was calm and swimming around with the scuba diver, rather than attempting to eat him. Some creatures really get a bad name due to situations where they are aggravated or feel threatened. I will still be scared of sharks, but from the footage I saw, maybe my fear will decrease a little bit.

The things that were shown in this film were AMAZING, many of which most people will never ever get to view first hand. I definitely recommend this film, even though it's a documentary. It's good for children and adults alike with interesting facts and images for all.

Death at a Funeral

I was able to get out of the house and see "Death at a Funeral" the other night. I had heard mixed reviews about the movie, but definitely wanted to see it for myself. This movie had a GREAT cast! including Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, Danny Glover, Zoe Saldana, James Marsden, Luke Wilson, Colombus Short and many more! I've been noticing a lot of the upcoming movies have amazing casts with many well known stars coming altogether, and I think it's exciting!

The movie surrounds the death and funeral of Aaron's (Chris Rock) father. It's taking place in the home where he lives with his mother and wife. Aaron's mother is extremely upset and is cheered up when her younger son (Martin Lawrence), shows up. He's a best-selling author and lives in California. He's well-liked and respected because of his books and Aaron is living in competition with him. All of their relatives come to the funeral to show their respects and encounter numerous problems that make the movie so hilarious! The family comes together to help each other when things go wrong, while most of the other guests are left wondering what is happening.

My favorite dilemma is when Oscar (James Marsden), who is Cousin Elaine's (Zoe Saldana) white boyfriend, is given pills before arriving to the funeral to calm him down. Elaine gives them to him thinking they are valium, while they are waiting for her brother to get dressed. At the funeral, Oscar is acting very strange and Elaine's brother Jeff (Colombus Short) informs her that they are a big mix of drugs and that Oscar is high as a kite. This brings many funny situations that were laugh out loud funny.

I think that Danny Glover did a great job playing grumpy Uncle Russell. Throughout the movie he was cousin Norman's (Tracy Morgan) responsibility and annoyance. The way the two interacted was fun to watch, except for one part where human waste was involved.

There were countless bad situations made into humor for the audience, and in the end everything was figured out and okay. I liked the movie from start to finish, probably because I was laughing so much! If you like comedies and are familiar with the actors of this movie, it is a great movie for you to see!

The Last Song

So last night I went and saw "The Last Song" starring Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth. It's another movie based off of a book written by Nicholas Sparks, just like The Notebook & Nights in Rodanthe. I saw those two movies and liked them alot! Although I am not a fan of Miley Cyrus, AT ALL!, i was intrigued to see this movie. Unfortunately, I still dislike Miley and find her annoying, and am disappointed by the movie.

It's about a teenage girl, Ronnie (Miley Cyrus) who moves from New York to Georgia to spend the summer with her father. She is a rebellious girl who is mad at her parents for their divorce and turned her life around for the worse to make a statement. Throughout her time there, she meets a friend and a boy. The cute boy is played by Liam Hemsworth, he comes from a wealthy family and is popular with the local girls. Ronnie is hesitant to have feelings for him but she can't resist and they begin to enjoy their new found love. The relationship comes with many ups and downs, and I didn't enjoy how Ronnie would react.

She has an adorable younger brother, Jonah, who hustles her for money and enjoys helping his dad with a stain glass window he is making. There was a church fire and the church was completely ruined, when you watch the movie, you'll understand why Ronnie's dad holds the situation very close to his heart.

The father daughter relationship that was once very damaged gets repaired throughout the movie. Ronnie also begins to play the piano again after stopping. She even was accepted to Julliard but did not want to attend because she lost her passion for piano because of her parents divorce. Her dad also plays the piano and writes music. They share the bond and become closer throughout the movie.

While watching The Last Song, I noticed a trend that Nicholas Sparks has in his stories. There is often an illness involved in the plot. I don't want to ruin the movie so I won't speak any further, but it adds sadness and shows Ronnie's strength as she deals with it.

The ending was good, but I cannot stand Miley Cyrus. I thought she would perform better, I feel like the actor portraying her younger brother did a better job. Her mouth annoys me, maybe it's something about her teeth? I don't know, but she's just not pleasant to look at or to hear.

So in conclusion, I did not like the movie very much, but maybe you will. Most of my reasoning is probably because of Miley Cyrus, but I also thought some parts were very awkward. Another thing is that many situations seemed so far from how reality would be, which I didn't like.

Another thing. In my opinion, she picked an Ugly Dress to attend a wedding. See below.

Upcoming Movies & Movies I want to see,

I wasn't able to watch any movies this past week. :( Everything is so hectic with school. In all of my classes, I have tons of assignments & projects! I'm lucky if I'm able to watch my weekly TV Shows (Life unexpected, Gossip Girl & 90210) Thank goodness for DVR!!!

This week I have a lot of schoolwork also, but hopefully I'll be able to fit in a movie, but Sunday is my 21st Birthday! & I have a Bar-Mitzfah to attend on Saturday. I don't want to be doing any homework over the weekend!

It seems like there are a lot of good movies out in theaters at the moment. I'm hoping to see at least 1 or 2 within the next month.

1. Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too
I saw the first one and liked it! I was happy to see that they made a 2nd one! The story surrounds 4 couples who are all close friends. For the first one, it was wintertime and they had a house in the mountains and this one is going to be in the Bahama's. I'm eager to find out what's in store for the group. I'm sure like the first one, there will be problems arising, secrets being kept and then revealed, and of course temptation and infidelity.

2. The Last Song
Although I find Miley Cyrus to be very annoying, this movie that she stars in looks really good! It is based off a novel by Nicholas Sparks, who has written many other books that have become movies (The Notebook, Nights in Rodanthe & Dear John). From the previews I've seen, it's about a teenage girl who goes to live with her Dad for the summer and finds love with a local boy. There seems to be a lot of unhappiness and remorse over her parents separation and divorce, but her new experiences turn out to be positive and enjoyable for her. I hope I'm able to see this in theaters, I just hope Miley's voice isn't too annoying.

3. The Bounty Hunter
Starring Jennifer Aniston & Gerard Butler, this romantic comedy looks interesting. It seems that the two previously dated and reunite when Gerard arrest Jennifer for something. It looks like it will be very funny! I'm just afraid of it being predictable and not as good as the previews make it out to be.

Other movies that seem intriguing and are in theaters now are:
  • How to Train your Dragon (I've heard nothing but good reviews)
  • Our Family Wedding
  • She's Out of my League (looks hilarious!)

Coming out in the next 2 weeks, Movies that I might wanna see are:

  • Death at a Funeral (I love Chris Rock!)
  • Date Night
  • The Runaways

Anyone else looking forward to any of these movies coming out?? Has anyone seen one? I'm open to any comments if you've seen any of the movies I've mentioned. (Just don't ruin any of them for me!)
