The Last House on the Left

This past week, I was hanging out with my boyfriend and we were looking for a movie to watch on TV. On one of the channels I get was "The Last House on the Left", we had both heard of it and decided to watch it, not knowing much of what it was about. It came out in 2009 and is a remake of the 1972 movie. (As I learned when my brother saw us watching and told us that he had seen the original) The actors in this movie were very good, but not very familiar to me. Although after looking the main character girl up, I am familiar with many other movies she has been in.

Her name is Sara Paxton and she plays Mari Collingwood in the movie. She's a teenage girl who goes on summer vacation with her parents to their lakehouse. Her parents hesitantly give her the keys to their SUV and allow her to visit one of her friends from town, Paige. They meet a boy who is a customer at the convenience store where paige works and he takes them back to his hotel to share his marijuana with paige. When the boy's father and uncle come back unexpectedly, the boy is surprised and suddenely very uneasy. The movie then turns into a suspenseful torture movie where Mari is fighting for survival against the boys criminal family.

I knew that it was supposed to be a scary movie, but it was more intense and brutal than any other horror film I've seen. They show brutal beatings, gun and knife violence, and even rape! I was not expecting to see so much within the 2 hour duration. It was also very gruesome at some points and I had to cover my eyes or look away.

The Last House on the Left is very fast moving and full of irony and suspense. As a viewer, you know a lot more than the characters and of course your rooting for the good guys! I don't want to explain the whole plot and summarize and spoil the movie, but I will say that it is INTENSE! I'm not a big fan of horror movies, and this one being watched by curiousity and accident, I would reccomend it, just for you to see for yourself.

I asked a friend if he had ever seen it, and he said that he saw the old and new version, with the original being even worse than the new adaptation. I would be hesitant to see the 1972 original, while the 2009 version was hard enough to watch! Maybe one day I will feel brave and watch it, as perhaps many of you might be!

Well worth the wait!

Since I started to see previews and movie posters of 'Valentine's Day", I have been wanting to see it! It has so many big celebrities starring in it, which is one of the main reasons I wanted to see it! I finally was able to go out and see the movie this past Saturday. I heard mixed reviews about it, some people saying that it could have been better, so I had to go and get my own opinion!

I loved this movie! Although it was, for the most part, predictable, it was funny, dramatic and romantic. When I laugh many times throughout a movie, I think it's a success. I think a big part of this movie being so good was all of the actors and actress's and how all of their storylines were eventually connected.

It followed people pursuing their Valentines and going through the obstacles of love and life. They had stories of love from all ages, ranging from an elementary school student to the grandparents of him who had been together for over 50 years. They included plotlines of young high school love along with the people who are usually lonely and hate Valentine's Day. It showed many different careers and even different cultures. At one point it seemed as though everyone was going to have a terrible Valentine's Day, but in the end, everything worked out! :)

As I was watching the movie, I was able to figure out where some of the people were going to end up, while one stands out as shocking! A dissappointment for the ladies! (but at least it's only acting!) I really liked how the cast interacted and how there were no boring moments! I'd tell everyone to go out and watch this movie, even the guys!

Valentine's Day was an altogether GREAT movie, with a great cast, and great storylines. I read somewhere they may be making a sequal, titled "New Year's Eve" I would definitly go see that also!

Love Happens.

Last week, I rented the movie "Love Happens" with Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart. It's about a motivational speaker, Burke(Eckhart), who lost his wife in a car accident a few years earlier and is now on a mission to help others through the grieving process and be able to move on with their lives. The twist is that he has not moved on from his own tragedy. He meets Eloise (Aniston) at the hotel where he is staying and his seminar is being held. They start off in a bad way, but soon find chemistry between each other and Eloise realizes Burke's secret. She then helps him overcome his grief for his wife as he helps others.

All in all, it was a cute movie, but I think that it could have been better. I did not like the personality of Burke and I found some parts to unfold in a weird way. Since I don't wanna spoil the movie, I don't want to say too much. I do think that some of the side-stories , such as when he gets to know a man who is taking his seminar and we hear the details of his life and his son's death. I found that to be a touching part of the movie.

If you like romance, drama and comedy, you should watch this movie and get an opinion on it. I do think that it could have been better but it wasn't horrible.

I need to find time to go to the movies sometime really soon! I want to see Dear John and also that new movie, Valentines Day! They both look like they'll be good! Hopefully my next blog will be on one of the two!!! :)

YAY!!!

I just read some very exciting movie news! There will be a 5th Fast and the Furious movie!!! :)

COMING IN 2011

Besides Tokyo Drift, which wasn't a bad movie, the 1st, 2nd and 4th movies are on my list of all time favorite movies! Not ONLY because Paul Walker is in them, but they are just GOOD movies! According to the news that I read, both Paul Walker and Vin Diesel have signed onto the movie! It's a long wait to 2011, but I'm already looking forward to this movie, I hope it really happens!

This news has made my day! I'm a big fan of these movies and one of Paul Walker's biggest fans! <3
