Last night, I watched the Blind Side with my mom and boyfriend. We had all been wanting to see it and the reviews for it have been nothing but excellent! And my review promotes the movie even more!
It's about a teenage boy with a very troubled past who is taken in by a wealthy christian family. He is accepted in a high class school and the teachers all doubt his ability, at first. He goes by the name Big Mike for obvious reasons, and is seen to have potential in football. Instantly the family grows attached to him and wants to learn his story, but he is very quiet and doesn't like to remember. The mother of the family especially, is very passionate on helping Michael, and it is a life-changing event for the whole family. 'Big Mike' forms a relationship with the adorable son of the family, he goes by the name SJ (which are my initials, so i especially grew a liking to him). SJ adds comedy to the movie and helps Mike get into shape. Once he is on the football team and everyone sees his great ability, College scouts go crazy and want him for their team. Throughout the movie there are obstacles to overcome and a theme of protection.
The award-winning movie is based on the true story of now NFL player Michael Oher. It is also based off of the book, The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game, by Michael Lewis. At the end they show pictures of the real life Michael Oher and his adoptive family. It is very inspirational to see the nuture of the family and progress of the boy.
Basically, you need to see this movie! I don't want to go into too much detail about the plot and what happens. It's a touching film, with great actors. The star is Sandra Bullock, who did an amazing job with this movie, some people say it's her best! But unfortunately she has been cancelling her appearances due to the new controversey between her and her cheating husband, Jesse James. It's very unfortunate timing and my heart goes out to her at this time when things should be happy and all about her new movie rather than her personal life and how she is probably hurting.
More famous cast members include country singer, Tim McGram along with Lily Collins who is the Daughter of Phil Collins(singer-songwriter). Also, many of the coaches featured as the college football coaches, play themselves.
