This Weekend I went to the movies and saw Brooklyn's Finest. It had a great cast, which included Richard Gere, Don Cheadle, Ethan Hawke and Wesley Snipes. The storyline revolved around 3 cops, all with different intentions and individual issues.
There is Tango, or Clarence, who is undercover and has been for too long, resulting in his wife wanting a divorce. Throughout the movie, he becomes torn between who to become legal to, the police, or the criminals. You also see how much he misses his wife, along with a normal life.
Then there is Sal, a religious man, who doesn't necessarily have good morals when doing police raids. With the stress of having to support 7 children and a wife, he's trying to get enough money for a new house. He's a dirty cop, out to get himself money.
Finally you have Eddie, an officer who has been on the force for over 20 years and will retire in 7 days. He is separated from his wife, and lives a lonely depressed life. He's awaiting retirement and is an honest guy.
The stories of these 3 individuals come together in the last scene of the movie. It ends tragically, I wish some parts would have been differently. I walked out of the theater with positive feedback regardless of the ending. It was a good movie. There was a lot of action and a good amount of drama. This movie was also full of suspense, I didn't know what was going to happen next! I think that's a good trait for movies to have, it keeps you wanting to watch.
I'd tell everyone to go see this movie, but beware of the graphic scenes that include gunshots, and shootings left and right. There was also a bit more nudity in the movie than I would have liked, but guys will probably enjoy it. I think it portrays cops pretty well, because I am not a fan of cops. Some are actually honest and want to do their job, but I think many others crave the power and abuse their authority to better themselves. Brooklyn's Finest shows the different types of cops, and the things that they witness and deal with. Go see it! or at least rent it when it comes on DVD!
"There was also a bit more nudity in the movie than I would have liked, but guys will probably enjoy it." haha probably true! This sounds like a great movie...is this the one you saw with Wade?? I only like certain types of movies which include comedies, drama and action. Scary movies are not my thing, but since this is action based, I think I will like it. When reading your synopsis it sounds a bit like "24" with the gunshots flying everywhere. Sounds great!!
